Martin Shaw and Michael Hill Smith first cousins and business partners, they set up Shaw+Smith in 1989. Their first wine was a sauvignon blanc, and it quickly became the benchmark for the variety in . As outstanding as the SB is, and as impressive as the Shiraz is (with its 3-4% viognier), the most stunning wine right now is the M3 vineyard Chardonnay. The M3 vineyard at Woodside, is named for the 3 partners, Martin, Michael, and Michael’s brother Matthew. Hill Smith and Shaw have excellent palates, know the great wines of the world intimately, have a keen sense of style and the know-how to achieve it.

Graduated from the renowned Roseworthy College in 1981, he worked with Brian Croser at Petaluma for 8 years prior to setting up the “Flying Winemakers” network in , , , and .

Michael Hill Smith 麥可‧希爾‧史密斯

In 1988, he became the first Australian to pass the rigorous Master of Wine examination in London . He is also responsible for the selection of all wines served on Singapore Airlines plus development of their staff training programmes.

1988年，他在倫敦通過重重嚴峻的試驗成為澳洲第一位葡萄酒大師(全球僅200多人得此殊榮)。目前並是新加坡航空的選酒師，負責挑出與世界上形象最佳的航空服務同等級的佳釀，並訓練空服員侍酒知識。
